In 1907, my great-grandfather built a barn in the RM of Meota, Saskatchewan, using logs cut 20 miles north where the tree line began. This barn was a lifeline on the prairie, sheltering animals through harsh winters, storing prairie hay, and even housing a team of horses that pulled a wagon to a one-room schoolhouse. Over the decades, it witnessed countless stories, from hurricane lanterns to the arrival of electricity in 1958. Though the barn was taken down for safety, its legacy lives on. Restored and transformed into The Wall Posy, it now holds blooms and a piece of Saskatchewan history.

Saskatchewan is a province not really known for having forests and trees.  We are known for flat land, prairie wheat fields and big open skies.  However, where I am in central Saskatchewan there are many.  I live on a beautiful lake surrounded by trees and brush.  I’m extra lucky because our little beach community has a tree refuse down the road and when owners are clearing brush they take them there.  I have so many beautiful choices to choose from like poplar, spruce, willow, birch and cedar to just to name a few.
